The psychiatrist Robert Waldinger conducted one of the longest-running and most complete studies of adult life to determine what factors make us truly happy. Tracking the lives of two groups of men (724 in total) for over 75 years the conclusion was essentially this: it’s not fame and money, but good relationships that keep us happy and healthy. In our age of social media and instant gratification, we may have forgotten these simple but important values that can ensure we live longer and healthier lives. In this revealing TED talk, Dr Waldinger explains why good relationships are essential to longevity as well as other illuminating lessons to be learned.
