Whilst therapy can help us to explore the past and make sense of it, life coaching is all about creating a future scenario and helping you work towards it.
Transformational coaching is a powerful way of exploring personal beliefs and values and how they shape our experience of life and our behaviours. Life coaching is for those who feel more stable in their lives, yet feel they want to take things to the next level. This can mean making transformational shifts to live life the way you’d prefer to, to remove blocks that are keeping you from making progress, or to achieve particular goals. Sometimes, tools and resources from the therapy world are used to help these transformational shifts, and vice versa. This is where therapy and coaching may seem confusing – if you’re generally unhappy or feel stuck in life, a coach or a therapist could help to clear the path that allows you to move forward, but whereas therapy is largely focused on resolving problems and healing the past, coaching is focused on constructing solutions and building the future.
My clients are typically people who are ready for change, growth, and a willingness to understand what is holding them back, in order to move forward. Understanding our ‘stuff’ can be key to making transformational change, breaking free from unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours. It is often our own limiting beliefs that prevent us from making valuable change in our lives, therefore understanding ourselves and our blind spots can help to transform the way we live. Coaching is often conducted over a shorter time-frame than therapy.
