I have a Diploma in Clinical Supervision (CPPD) and provide supervision for both trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists, either as individuals or groups. Aside from offering private practise supervision I have supervised students on the MA in Integrative Counselling and Coaching course at the University of East London.
My supervision training was integrative, meaning I do not subscribe to a particular modality, instead I am able to work with therapists from many different training backgrounds including Person Centred, CBT, Gestalt, TA and Psychodynamic approaches. As a supervisor, I aim to stretch the learning and thinking of supervisees, challenging them to think independently and ethically whilst working collaboratively with the clients needs in mind.
In particular, my training focused on the ‘Integrated Developmental Model’ of supervision (Stoltenberg, 1981) and is one of the most researched models of supervision. Whilst there is a focus on the relational process between therapist and client, this model ensures there is also a focus on the growth and development of the supervisee in their therapeutic work, enhancing competence and confidence over time – particularly for those who are starting their journey as therapists.
