How can mindfulness help with stress and anxiety?

Mindfulness is a technique that can help us to live in the present. Too often we get caught up in autopilot, our minds wander away and we lose touch with the reality of any given moment. We can become immersed in thoughts about past events, or we can worry about the future. Either way, this can have an impact on our mood – depression, anxiety, worry, stress and more.

With mindfulness practise, our awareness grows and teaches us how to step out of autopilot and the constant busyness of always doing. Instead, we experience being in our world by bringing awareness to our physical body sensations and patterns of thoughts and emotions rather than being completely unaware of them. We can see that thoughts and emotions come and go, without having to ‘buy into’ them. This can be transformational for our wellbeing.

This practical course gives you the opportunity to develop a personalised mindfulness practise with a small group setting over an 8 week period. It is the most widely researched and evidence-based approach helping you to develop new ways to cope with stress and anxiety, exploring techniques to help you bring mindfulness into your everyday life, and cultivating attitudes such as patience, trust, acceptance and self-compassion. There will be guided practises, take-home notes, group discussions and exercises designed to enhance personal learning and wellbeing.
